We all have the ability to screw up. It’s human nature. Right?
Nonetheless, it appears TPB is mysteriously working again, but my trace to TPB now is way different than what it was before this whole issue. I’ll keep checking it out for the next few days. I understand the routing issues and how TPB wouldn’t broadcast their routes due to the DDOS, but I really think its odd since TPB hasn’t changed their IP during this entire thing. Additionally, my routes (as TorrentFreak pointed out) are now starting to vary greatly. Not just different servers, but entirely different routes and IP ranges to TPB.
I’ll be keeping you updated if anything changes in the near future. I’ll also be running the new reddit “sopa_blogs” which will bring you the most updated info about anything related to internet censorship, conspiracy or facts. Feel free to check back, or never again. I’ll still be putting up those damn programming guides I keep talking about.

Well… At least for the people in Northeast USA. Here’s why and what I’ve done to verify it.
First, I attempted to open the page http://thepiratebay.se
No dice. I was getting 502 errors. Okay, maybe it’s just my internet. I tried it on my AT&T phone and Verizon tablet (along with my Optimum Home), and still nothing but big bags of 502 errors.
So I’m sitting here thinking… What the hell could be going on? Yes, I am aware that TPB was DDOSed earlier today, but that doesn’t mean anything. After trying numerous times to connect to the pirate bay, I fired up a VPN out of Canada and magically, it worked! I then connected to my box in the Netherlands, that too worked as expected. Just for laughs and giggles, I connected to my campus vpn and ran a traceroute and that also worked. (Campus is located in the South East).
The only logical deduction I can draw from this as to why it’s blocked is that someone beyond my ISP (Optimum) has put some sort of block on the TLD. I’m not sure where it goes after Optimum’s stuff, but it looks like the RIPE Network: 184.108.40.206 based on numerous tests.
Here is a screenshot to see the traceroute and how it progressed. The only site that does this is thepiratebay.se… All mirrors work great. You know what the worst part about internet censorship is? I can’t say it… I’ll be sued.
Pic related. The only conclusion I can draw at this point is that it is blocked. If anyone has insight, I’d appreciate it.
Edit: I just had someone ask me what the good side of piracy is.
Imagine going out and buying a video game or a blu ray series (Specifically GTA IV or LOTR Extended Edition Trilogy) only to be told you simply can’t use it because you’ve already used it or your TV doesn’t support encryption. You contact bestbuy, the makers of the game and the publishers and they all tell you to go screw. Now you have the mediums for the game and movies, but nothing works. Now what?
I’ll tell you what I did. I pirated the hell out of those. Screw you for blocking me from watching my LOTR or playing my Grand Theft Auto after purchasing the stuff honestly.
This is how a normal trace route should be. Or at least some what.
Another verification that TPB is up, but not from the NY area. This is from MI.
